In both 2001 and 1996, a slightly larger proportion of Aboriginal high school graduates
than non-Aboriginal high school graduates continued on to post-secondary education. In 2001,
81.9 per cent of Aboriginal high school graduates had some form of post-secondary education,
compared to only 79.4 per cent for non-Aboriginal Canadians (Table 3). This is consistent with
Mendelson‘s (2006) finding that Aboriginal high school graduates are just as likely as non-
Aboriginal graduates to continue to post-secondary education.
