Vanek-chains for the whole period 1980 to 1992 are show in figure 7. If low skilled Danes lost
jobs due to foreign competition compared to educated Danes this would cause the curve for
low educated in figure 7 to fall. It do not for the investigated period from 1980 to 1992.

In figure 7 the curves for technical type education (dashed) both at the medium level (slim) and
at the high level (bold) probably reflect the business cycle: Top in 1986 with high investment
and private consumption that could not be met with domestic production. The result was a
huge balance of payment deficit, and figure 7 shows that net imports in particular grew for
products that require technical skills.
