Statistical comparisons (Т-test for Independent samples) between linguistic conditions
within each age group revealed no significant differences except for the oldest age group.
Particularly, the Definition group from that age had a significantly higher existing vocabulary
than the children from the Inference group of the same age (t=2.2, df=3O, p<.05). Statistical
comparison within each linguistic condition between age groups was also carried out. No
significant differences were found.

5.4.1.2 Phonological Working Memory test

Children’s performance on the phonological working memory test was also explored. The
following table presents children’s performance on the phonological memory test.

As the above table shows, children’s memory scores from all the different subgroups (age
and group) did not differ. Statistical comparisons between linguistic conditions within each
age group revealed no significant differences. Furthermore, statistical comparisons between
age groups within each linguistic condition revealed no significant differences as well.
