Error analysis

An Error analysis was carried out to identify the different responses given on the naming task
These are presented in the following table.

Table 5.7 Children’s responses in the naming task

Responses_________________

___________Description_____________________________

Don’t know

If they did not provide any answer

Irrelevant responses

If irrelevant responses were given e.g. toy, kite, boat

Phonological error

Non-accurate production of the target word, e.g. “abo”

did not differ by the target item.

Successful performance was the more frequent response during the immediate post test as
well as the most frequent response from the given responses in the delayed post test.
Statistical analysis indicated that the children during the Immediate post test provided
significantly more
“target word” than ''don ,t know'” responses (Wilcoxon: Z=2.5, p<.05),
while in the delayed post test they provided more
