Vietnamese should leave

behind and become

Australian

(agree)

30.2

It is interesting to note that, in response to Statement i,
Vietnamese should leave all their way of life behind and become
Australian, the two schools where there was most assimilation of
other groups (Taperoo and Salisbury North) gave more support to
assimilation for Vietnamese (52.6 per cent and 30.2 per cent
respectively), compared with 17.1 per cent Pt. Augusta High and
11.2 per cent Augusta Park.

Nevertheless, there was rejection of this notion by each
school (53.9 per cent, 64.5 per cent, 49.5 per cent and 47.6 per cent, from
Pt. Augusta High, Augusta Park, Taperoo and Salisbury North, respectively).

The support for multiculturalism found in Table 24 was
also found vith respect to Vietnamese keeping their
culture.
