22.2 *Theorizing* about a mult!-Cultural Australia - non Aboriginal
response

Multi-Culturalisin as a Goveramental policy and the location
of Aborigines within this framework has been discussedɪ.

The following statements sought to tap rudimentary theorizing
on the part of students in two areas. The first concerned
issues touching on Australia as a multi-cultural society, the
second related to theorizing about the location of Aborigines
in this society.

22.21 Theorizing about multi-culturalism

22.22 Hypothesis

It is hypothesized that non-Aboriginal students will have
interacted with the theorizing of reality defi∏ers in the schools,
and that theorizing about multiculturalism in its reified form
(that is, as theory, as learning
about cultures) will be accepted
by all schools.

It is further hypothesized that in those schools where
there has been a negative typification of Aborigines there
will be a rejection of the notion of having coloured people
as migrants.
