Pressure on time: Irrespective of whether the participants were working as musicians
or in non-music jobs, difficulties associated with the need to continue to devote
considerable amounts of time to professional development - and private practice in
particular - were emphasized. When other pressures such as family commitments,
commitments to further study and time spent working were brought to bear, it became
increasingly difficult to sustain personal professional development (Table 2).
