In general, social deprivation includes the roles, relationships, and socio-economic status of the
individual. Therefore the variables should be determined to reflect these characteristics of the research
population. Townsend’s (1987) social deprivation includes the domains such as employment, health and
social insurance, integration, participation in social institutions, recreational facilities, and education. So, the
variables of this study are determined as in Table 4. Work domain indicating the problems of working
environment in general is examined together with employment domain.
