ence. Often the application of academic work and research to the
school involves coming back to experiences and conceptualising problems
in different ways from those perhaps common within the shcool. This
dynamic and the potential for the creation and application of new
meanings and ways of seeing things is essential in any course that
takes on the relation of theory and practice. It can produce problems
as the following extracts suggest where the students are expressing
