migration “careers”. Employment development is still a central factor for job movers even if
this is not valid for other groups. The impact of the high turnover rate with respect to both in-
and out-migration is perhaps a new phenomenon and a consequence of the reduced
importance of labour market related migratory movements that is - among other things - a
result of higher migration intensities of young people compared to the 60s and 70s.
